Three finalists took the opportunity to pitch their innovative ideas to a strong business panel of four, Simon Gray (Nottingham Means Business), Manny Agalamanyi (D2N2), Aamir Butt (Accelerate) and Simon Curtis (Potter Clarkson). The three pitches were done by Nicky Gray of Food Freedom, Assim Ishaque of Simbrix and Usman Ghaffar of Offers Cloud, but of course there could only be one winner.

Nicky Gray managed to fight her way to the top spot after her strong and passionate pitch about her product. A single mother with 2 children, who both have multiple food intolerances and allergies, she has spent many years researching and retraining herself through life experiences and qualifications to develop her business. Food Freedom “draw on personal experience and expertise to provide specially-tailored education and training about food intolerance and allergies.”

Nicky Gray said “The feedback and advice I received from the panel was invaluable, giving me so much to think about and potential ways to improve my business.  I feel extremely grateful and privileged to have had this opportunity. Winning was a real added bonus!”

Simon Gray, Chief Executive of Nottingham Means Business commented, “It was a pleasure to be asked to take part in the Bull Pit at the Nottingham Business Expo. It was fantastic to see such a wealth of talent in the three businesses who presented and a very tough decision to pick one winner.

“After much deliberation we chose Nicky Gray, Founder of Food Freedom. Her passion and drive was infectious and she has a proven business proposition, which is now ready to be taken to the next level. I’m delighted to welcome her as an honorary member of Nottingham Means Business for 12 months and look forward to working with her.

“The Business Expo was a great success and something we should definitely repeat again next year – congratulations to all involved”.

Nicky fought off the challenge of two very strong finalists in Assim Ishaque and Usman Ghaffar. The former is the founder of Simbrix fusion beads, a creative craft and construction toy. Playing and creating with it is simple, yet rewarding. You can fuse together your designs for more permanent celebrations of your art or leave them in their sturdy original forms, ready for the next big project.

Usman Ghaffer, the co-founder of Offers Cloud, is an experienced pitcher at the tender age of 18. After doing many pitches around the country and being the youngest ever finalist at The Pitch UK he fancied his chances in front of our ‘Bulls’. Offers Cloud, where you can “find all the latest offers, sales and clearance from all of the high-street retailers and brands in one place” is set for a strong future along with Simbrix.
